Popingay is the blog of Kris Schmidt, a smart-ass gay boy living a life of aggressive fabulousness whose most remarkable quality is being sort of funny at parties. A born-and-raised Calgarian, his brand of sparkly behaviour brings more gay to cowboys than the release of Brokeback Mountain.
24 years old, he recently graduated from the University of Calgary with two degrees in English and business. He laments no longer being allowed to blame his poverty on being a student although he acknowledges “I have a B.A. in English” functions just about the same.
Formerly gay-for-pay (in a good way) establishing Q: The SU Centre for Sexual & Gender Diversity at the University of Calgary, he also co-chaired the school’s queer student club, Queers on Campus, and has spent an unbelievable amount of time trying to be the gayest gay to ever gay a gay.
Kris’s spectacularness is tempered by general laziness and being an egomaniacal neurotic. As a result Kris has earned such endearing nicknames as “asshat”, “jerkwad”, “annoying”, and “stop stabbing me; I’m calling the police”.
A spectacular waster of time, Kris writes about his personal endeavours, socio-cultural opinions, and whatever else crosses his mind as he piddles away valuable time on the internet.
He also enjoys referring to himself in the third person. Or the royal we (pluralis majestatis to be pretentious), but has been violently corrected of that habit by his friends.
